When going out in Dalston, there’s something for all tastes. Its mix of independent bars, shops and quirky restaurants makes it one of the most exciting places to live in London. The area is famous for its Turkish cuisine and restaurants such as 9 Numara Bos Cirrik or Stone Cave certainly do not disappoint. Make sure to head to Chan’s Noodle Bar if you fancy a delicious Chinese meal, enjoy the stunning views over Hackney at Dalston Roof Park or try some delicious homemade cakes at Mouse & De Lotz on Shacklewell Lane. Fancy watching a movie? Head to the Rio Cinema, an independent movie theatre showing a mix of new releases and old classics.
Dalston is the place to be if you’re looking for independent shops with exclusive and unique vintage items. Head to Beyond Retro and LNNC for a great selection of top quality vintage clothes. Visit Storm in a Teacup and browse through their wonderful collection of designer clothes. Make sure to stop by Huh to find unique homeware items at a discounted price. The area is also packed with top hair salons and nail bars making it a top destination for those into beauty.
Dalston also has some great parks and outdoor spaces that bring a fragment of nature in this bustling part of London. Victoria Park is one of the capital’s oldest parks and stretches over 86.18 hectares. Stroll the leafy paths of the park and admire its beautifully-designed gardens and fountains. Make sure to check out the stunning Chinese Pagoda that can be found in the park – it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the lush surroundings with friends and family. Not far from Victoria Park you’ll also find London Fields Lido, an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming-pool – the ideal place to visit over the summer.
Thanks to recent regeneration projects, Dalston is extremely well-connected. With two Overground stations on different lines, Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction, this lively neighbourhood can be accessed with ease. Numerous bus routes also link to central London and Stratford.
